Please be patient with us as we raise funds to award grants. We are fairly new and have limited funds available but can help in many ways. Please apply for a grant to ensure your application can be reviewed as soon as possible. If all documentation is filled out and permissions given, you may take part in the Help-A-Child Program listed in the application. We will then post a fundraising page on this site where friends, family, organizations and businesses may donate. Your story, picture, goal and progress will be visible. All applicants in this program will have to be approved first by the board. All funds must be donated directly to the Warrior Families Beating Spina Bifida Foundation with a note on the check for a specific child. Once goal is reached, the WFBSB Foundation will then apply the funds to the treatment, equipment or company. Funds will not be sent to an individual unless circumstances should need otherwise. Donations can be made by sending a check to the Foundation address below or by visiting the child's fundraising page and clicking on donate. Please remember, all checks must be written out to the Foundation with a note stating child's name. This program ensures that all fundraising is protected by the 501c3 nonprofit status.
WFBSBF's main goal is to be able to provide grants to all families who are seeking therapies, treatments, equipment or anything they need on their path to beating complications of Spina Bifida. We will first determine if there is a resource you can go to to receive the item or treatment, and if not, we will happily assist you. Each person should submit an inquiry and they will be sent an application by mail. All grants / grant amounts will be determined based on funds available, current requests, circumstance and income. We will try to do our best to provide grants fairly for all and we desire to help you or your family member BEAT Spina Bifida!
If your case meets all of the criteria listed below, you must complete a Grant Application and the Application Submittal Checklist. We can not begin processing your grant request without all of the appropriate information and documentation listed on the Submittal Checklist.

Grant Request Criteria
Applications are confidential and accepted continuously. Grant requests are evaluated and approved by the WFBSB Foundation Board members.
As a non-profit organization, WFBSB Foundation requests that doctors, hospitals, and apparatus providers discount their services in order to assist the foundation in fulfilling their mission.
All grant requests must fall into one of the following categories:
Expenses associated with surgery or a specific procedure or treatment such as organ transplants, (non-embryonic stem cells), physical rehabilitation therapy, etc.
Expenses associated with apparatus which will improve the quality of life for a child such as: wheelchairs, van lifts, communication devices hearing aids, prosthetic limbs, therapy equipment, etc.
Expenses associated with the cost of displacement for a child and one family member who must relocate during a procedure/treatment. This requires that a doctor or medical specialist write a letter confirming that the procedure/treatment can not be done in the child's city of residence. (Acceptable expenses include transportation and lodging. It will not include a phone, television, etc.)
In order to be considered for funding the following criteria must be met:
The application must have been diagnosed with Spina Bifida or related conditions.
The cost of the surgery, procedure, treatment or apparatus is very significant and is not covered by either the parent's insurance or the parent's assets/income or by a combination thereof.
Requests for debt reduction of expenses already incurred will not be considered.
Types of Requests That Are Outside WFBSB Foundation Parameters:
Requests for research funding or other non-profit organizational grants.
Requests for debt reduction.
